I would like to welcome you to SONiC BOOM, our inaugural season of contemporary music performance, opera and concert events from across Canada and around the world. With this series, we will provide Toronto with an eclectic range of some of the most powerful experiences created by today's music artists through the fusion of music, drama and imagery. SONiC BOOM reflects our desire to demonstrate the development of new works and to braoden the awareness of the dynamic role contemporary music artistry plays in creating new expressions for the 21st century. Whether it be the melodic strain of voice and instrument exuding joy or the computer generated peep of an intimate grief, SONiC BOOM is about breaking the sound barriers of human drama. This is a new direction for AUTUMN LEAF PERFORMANCE and one that we invite you to take part in as a culturally rich and affordable experience.

The composer of Jane Campion's The Piano, the films of Peter Greenaway such as The Cook, the Thief, his Wife and her Lover, and the opera, The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, makes his Toronto debut.

ARTAUD'S CANE

Written and directed by Thom Sokoloski
Collaborative composed and performed by Eve Egoyan, Fides Krucker, Darren O'Donnell and Michael White
The spectre of Antonin Artaud reigns in this haunting performance art opera in which Paolo, driven to madness by his powerlessness to prevent the death of his daughter, becomes cornered in the asylum of his mind. Probing the depths of his hallucinatory reality, the spiritual presence of Artaud directs him towards an fragmented and inexplicable destiny.
